The White House has confirmed that “meaningful progress” was made during the third round of trilateral negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, held in Geneva.
Speaking to reporters, Karoline Leavitt said the United States observed constructive developments in the latest round of talks, aimed at reducing hostilities and advancing efforts toward a negotiated settlement.
According to Leavitt, both Russian and Ukrainian representatives agreed to brief their respective leaders following the discussions and to continue diplomatic engagement in pursuit of a potential peace agreement.
She added that Donald Trump views the ongoing conflict as “very unfair,” referencing both the human toll on lives lost and the financial burden on American taxpayers. The administration reiterated its position that diplomacy remains central to ending the war.
While no formal agreement has yet been announced, officials described the Geneva meetings as an important step forward in dialogue. Analysts note that sustained negotiations would be required to address complex issues including territorial disputes, security guarantees, reconstruction efforts, and ceasefire terms.
The Geneva talks mark the third round of high-level engagement involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States, reflecting renewed diplomatic efforts amid continued military tensions on the ground.
Further updates are expected as discussions continue and leaders assess the outcomes of the latest meeting.
